Kilve Reading Group
Meets on the first Tuesday of the month. In normal times this is at The Hood Arms starting at 7.15pm.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the group are currently meeting via Zoom.
The group has a flourishing membership who are interested in discussing a wide variety of novels and some non fiction too. The reading group recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary and has read over 100 books (and enjoyed most of them). Two that stand out as absolute favourites are ‘The Red Tent’ by Anita Diamant and ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens. The group enjoy a variety of genres, with crime and mystery featuring strongly. The monthly meetings often feature lively debate and it is usual to have a variety of diverse opinions about the book under discussion. An update from the group can normally be found in Kilve News.
Membership numbers are limited to keep the meetings manageable and at present there are no vacancies.

Kilve Golf Klub
Kilve Golf Klub was founded in 2016 at a meeting in the Hood Arms in Kilve.
The aim of the club is to encourage people of all abilities to play golf in a friendly,
The home course is the nearby Cannington Golf Club. The Kilve members play
an 18 hole stableford competition, generally on the third Wednesday of each
month, usually with a 10am tee off.
A number of away days are planned each year to enable members to experience
different courses. These are shown below.
In November each year a presentation evening is held. This is an opportunity to
have fun in a social setting and to recognise those who have played well throughout
the year and to recognise those who have contributed to the running of the club.
There are trophies for best 18 hole average, best 9 hole average, nearest the pin,
best improved player and longest drive.
The most important attribute of the people of the club is that they have the common
aim to have fun, get together, get some fresh air and exercise whilst trying to
improve their game. Kilve Golf Klub involves quite a lot of tea drinking, bacon rolls
and the odd alcoholic drink. New members are always welcome whether you are
good at golf or not.
Anybody interested in joining the club should contact David Tansley,
firstname.lastname@example.org and 07901856484.

2020 Season hasn’t gone as planned…
The January Away Day was wet and windy at Minehead Links course. We played the Has-Beens who won by a narrow margin. It was a great day. February and March competitions at Cannington Golf Club were really wet and some areas of the course were underwater; then COVID-19 happened. Golf stopped during Lockdown. Individual golf resumed as the weather improved. The staff at Cannington had done a great job improving the standard of the course. The 22nd July was at Oake where sun cream was needed. A great course and some good performances from the top players. The Worlebury competition was delayed until the 19th August. It rained. A lot. Long Sutton on 16th September was hot and dry. Though only 5 could play it was a good test with some long par 5s.
Dates for the 2020 Season
Note that all dates may change depending on the course and availability of tee times.
